FYI, in addition to the European Union’s (EU) General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR):

Colorado’s data privacy law went into effect last week, September 1st:

It appears weaker in some ways than GDPR, but will impact website owned(?) in Colorado.

But California?s new law (the California Consumer Privacy Act, which was passed in lieu of a statewide ballot initiative this November), goes into effect January 1, 2020 (1 year, 3 1/2 months), and will have a much stronger importance than Colorado’s law nationwide:

But, with California’s laws in general having such a large economic impact and with the large number of tech companies based there, the new law will become unavoidable in other states across the U.S.
